FAQs.

What is mental health occupational therapy?

Mental health occupational therapy helps people build practical skills to support their mental health and wellbeing in everyday life. This can include routines, coping strategies, emotional regulation, and managing daily tasks. Tenille is an endorsed mental health occupational therapist which means she can provide medicare rebated support under the better access initiative. Clients should see their GP to see if they are eligible.

What is the difference between seeing a psychologist or an OT?

While there is some overlap, the focus is a little different.

Psychologists often help you understand your thoughts, emotions, and patterns and focus on understanding the “why”.

As a mental health OT, I work with you on the “how”.

How do I get through the day when everything feels overwhelming?
How do I build routines that actually stick?
How do I use practical strategies in real moments?
How do I manage my energy, motivation, and capacity? How do I get back to doing the things that matter?

It’s not about choosing one over the other —
sometimes people see both, at different times or together.
